Officers, National Museum of the US Army at Fort Belvoir, VA. A

Community affairs - Congratulations to CW3R James and
his entire crew at Flowing Wells High School and the Fort
Lowell-Apache Chapter volunteers on a great 2nd Annual Apache Drill
Meet. The event included 28 schools, up from 23 schools last year.
The winner of the Fort Lowell-Apache Trophy was Tuba City High
School Army ROTC

Huggins approved the 2007 audit of the Chapter’s financial books

The Historic Soldiers’ Relocation Project Paver
project was explained. The pavers available are:
8” x 8” with an
inscription of up to 6 lines of 15 characters each for $500
4” x 4” with an
inscription of up to 3 lines of 15 characters each for $100
There are various
discounts for multiple paver purchases and CW5R Baiocchetti will provide
further guidance. The members present agreed to the purchase “in
concept”, but the chapter will wait until after the golf tournament to
make a decision

The Scholarship Committee will contact the Senior
Instructors at Flowing Wells, Cholla and
Canyon
Del Oro high schools
to remind them of the scholarships and awards that
the USAWOA Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter provides.

JROTC Scholarship – CW2R Curtis provided the
narrative update for the 2008 program and CW3R Turner has posted the
program requirements to the Chapter website
New Business:

The 2008 edition of the Fort Lowell-Apache golf
tournament will be held on 7 June 2008 at the Tucson Omni National
Golf Club and Resort. The entrance fees have been set and CW5R
Baiocchetti requested that chapter members begin the search for hole
sponsors and general sponsors for the tournament

The 2008
All Arizona Chapter meeting is planned for 16 March 2008. The
sponsoring chapter and location are undecided
-
The 2008
Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter picnic is scheduled for 3 May 2008, all
day at Ramada 7, Fort Lowell Park. The ramada has been reserved

The
members are fortunate to have 2 guest speakers tonight. First,
Colonel Louis Jordan, former commander of the
Western Army National
Guard Aviation Training Site
(WAATS) provided his insight into leading Warrant Officers during
his command tenure
-
Second
was a guest of CW3R Keller. Alex Drysdale, a World War 2 P-38
Pilot, provided a portal into the life of a P38 pilot during the war
-
Chapter
Shirts – members are requested to pick up and pay for their ordered
shirts
-
CW2 Craig
Dowdney is deployed overseas and the Knights of Columbus are sending
packages to Craig’s unit from Tucson. The members agreed to assist
Donna Dowdney in any way possible and to keep in touch with her. A
motion was made by CW3R Higgins that the chapter pays for CW2
Dowdney's USAWOA dues while he is deployed. The motion was seconded
by CW3 Keller and approved.
Adjournment:

motion that the meeting be adjourned; seconded by CW5R Baiocchetti and
passed by the members present at 1949 hours
