Fort Lowell - Apache Chapter

Meeting Minutes –

12 May 2008

Meeting called to order at 1807 hours by President, CW2R John Curtis,  with members saluting the flag during the Pledge of Allegiance. The President declared a quorum present.  The meeting was held at Michelangelo's Ristorante Italiano.

Secretary’s Report: 

The minutes of the May 2008 meeting were presented previously to the members electronically. A motion was made by CW4R Harold Lindamood to accept the minutes as published and seconded by CW3R Al Price.  The motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report:  CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti

As of April 30, 2008

            Savings Account:

Opening Balance = $ 5.06

            Checking Account:

 Opening Balance= $ 3762.28

Ending Balance=     $ 6021.09

A motion was made by CW3R Ron James to accept the Treasurer's Report subject to audit and seconded by CW3R Michael Turner. The motion passed.

President's Report:  CW2R John Curtis

CW2R John Curtis thanked the Chapter members for attending the Annual Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter picnic at Fort Lowell Park. 

Vice President's Report:  CW4R Harold Lindamood

CW4R Harold Lindamood thanked CW3R Ed Blankshen being the chef du jour at the picnic.  Ed really knows how to flip a burger.

Unfinished Business:      

1. JROTC Program

   1. Awards – The 2008 Fort Lowell-Apache Scholarship Award was presented to Cadet Major Jacqueline Richardson by CW2R Ted Cogut on 16 April 2008 at Flowing Wells High School.  2008 Award Ceremony.

2. Awards – CW4R Bob Ozier presented the Distinguished JROTC medals to the Casa Grande High School USMC JROTC program.

2.  Golf Tournament - 7 June Tucson Omni

   1. Committee Chairman, CW5R Baiocchetti, reported that he has 19 teams and 10 hole sponsors for tournament.  He reviewed the status of the planning and reiterated the need for more operations volunteers.

   2. The final tally of sponsors and teams will be included in the next meeting minutes.

   3. CW3R Michael Turner presented a check for the “Hole-In-one” program  on behalf of his consulting company, Shamrock Electro Optics.

3. Chapter Family Picnic – 10 May 2008

   1. A grand time was had by all who attended the picnic at Fort Lowell Park. The weather was very nice, if a bit warm, even under the ramada.

   2. The discussion about holding a second gathering in early October, after the monsoon, was continued.  The idea was well received.

4. Meeting Location

CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti discussed the possibility of moving the northern monthly meeting to the Village Inn near Oracle Road and Orange Grove road to make the meeting a little more accessible to the southerly members.

5. Warrant Officers Heritage Foundation

   1. CW3R Joe Gill, Deputy Directory Western Region, read a letter from CW5R Dave Welch, Director, President, and Chief Operating Officer, Warrant Officers  Heritage Foundation, thanking the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter for their donation.  CW3R Joe Gill presented a "WO Heritage Supporter" flag streamer to the chapter on behalf of the Western Region Director.

New Business: 

            A motion was presented by CW4R Harold Lindamood to postpone our next meeting until 8 Sep 2008 due to the number of members that will be traveling or away from Tucson over the summer.  A lively discussion ensued. The motion was seconded by CW3R Al Price and passed.

Adjournment:

CW3R Al Price made a motion that the meeting be adjourned; seconded by CW3R Ron James and passed by the members present at 1917 hours. 

The next meeting of the Chapter will be held on September 8, 2008 at Michelangelo's Ristorante Italiano, 420 W Magee Rd [at Oracle Road].
